Personal Testimony

As I mentioned earlier, I committed my life to Jesus Christ in 1994. At the time Laurel and I were married for just 2 years, had our first two children, were starting a new business and were trying to figure out this game called life. Although we both believed in God, we really had no idea what that meant. Our beliefs were based more on religion than relationship, and our lives were quickly spinning out of control.

I grew up in a home that did not believe. And although my parents were incredible people and wonderful parents, there was no focus on God. At age 13, a series of major occurrences happened that permanently changed my life. First, my father was nearly crushed to death in a work accident. The result was two months in intensive care and fourteen months of rehabilitation. One year later, at age 14, my 17 year old brother, Jesse, drowned in a scuba diving accident. Due to my fathers physical handicaps at the time, and my mother's emotional state, I immediately grew up and became a "man of the house" at 14. And although I became a very responsible child, the ultimate result of all of this was a reckless lifestyle of drinking, fighting and independence. That started to change when I met my wife, Laurel.

Laurel was the one who brought me to the recognition that I needed God in my life. Thanks to our babysitter, who was our Pastor's daughter, Laurel came to a saving faith in Jesus Christ. And thanks to Laurel, and the help of a Pastor and mentor by the name of Glenn Horne, I came to a saving faith also.

Since that day, my life has gone through significant changes. Drinking, cursing, and even my temper, have all become things of the past. God, through His Son, has made me a new person just as He promised.

In 1996, after making the conscious decision to acknowledge God and become a witness on His behalf in everything I do and to everyone I meet, God started to expand my opportunities in my business. The result has been the opportunity to influence the lives of over 150,000 people and to impact the lives of thousands more in India. My sole intent in life is to portray to people I come in contact with a small taste of the goodness and fullness that Jesus Christ exemplified during the short 33 years of His life.

I could write volumes on the positive changes God has made in my life and the miracles He has performed that I have been witness to; the changes to me personally, the impact on Laurel and our children, the miracles we have seen both here and in India. Let me sum it up by saying that no decision I have made can ever come close to the decision to follow Him.
